The Tutorial Program

The tutorial program began in 2022 as an effort to assist seventh-grade students in making a smooth transition to secondary education. Before the program started, a survey conducted in Kigoma region communities revealed that while access to education is no longer a challenge, the quality of education remains a critical issue.

The transition to English as the language of instruction in secondary schools poses a significant challenge for most students, as does Mathematics. There is also a recognized need to integrate material and spiritual education. Through reflection and continuous improvement, the program evolves to meet students' needs.

Program Structure

The tutorial program operates under the wings of Ruaha Mwongozo Foundation (RMF). A nucleus team at the national level reflects on the development of the program across the country. When the team meets, they read holy writings and related materials, review annual and cycle plans, and reflect on achievements.

The program also works with a national coordinator who oversees development and collaborates with regional teams. These regional teams meet once every two months, focusing on mobilizing teachers for reflection, reading the reality of Tanzania's educational system, disseminating awareness among parents, analyzing statistics, and providing feedback to strengthen the program.

In 2023, the program expanded to include additional Form One subjects. It is hoped that through ongoing reflection, the program content will continue to improve over time, while determining how many years of secondary preparation each student needs.
